Galvanized Steel

Galvanized steel parts are great for marine use because they are hot-dipped in zinc after being stamped. This creates a coating that is typically 3 mil to 5 mil thick. This thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding, making them a good choice for boat and snowmobile trailers.

Axle Dimensions

HubAndSpringLengths

There are multiple ways to measure the length of an axle beam, but the hub-face-to-hub-face and spring-center-to-spring-center lengths are the most accurate. Hub face (A) refers to the length of the axle measured from the base of one wheel stud to the base of the wheel stud on the opposite side of the axle (when hubs are mounted on the beam).

The spring center (B) is the approximate width of your trailer. It is measured from the center of the spring centering hole on one side of the axle to the spring centering hole on the other.

This axle worked great on my trailer everything thing fit great

I bought a replacement axle and idler hubs for my utility trailer. Overloading with heavy firewood finally took its toll! Everything from etrailer.com showed up by UPS Ground right on schedule and the parts went together very nicely. The hub bearings are factory-lubricated, saving that critical step. I tested it out yesterday and the trailer runs fine. I would have to rate the products and purchasing experience as excellent (5 stars).

Super! Except for one little thing that had nothing to do with the replacement axle..I wrecked the trailer. But good news: the axle and hubs are fine and I am looking for a replacement trailer and will use these parts as replacements.

by:

the axle came with castle nuts and cotter pins, but no washers, the old hubs fit but the washers i have are too small

Holding up well.

Great replacement axle for your little utility trailer - if it has 46-1/2" spring centers. Mine did and it fit perfectly. Be aware that this axle requires an inner grease seal with a 1.50" ID, NOT the 1.25 that comes with most replacement hubs for this size axle. I had to buy a set of 1.50" seals to swap out with the ones that came with my new hubs.

by:

Solid square tube axle beam, and I love the EZ-lube axle spindles. Installed in literally minutes with zero difficulties. I used this to replace the axle (and hubs) on a Haul-Master 1195 lb. 4' x 8' folding trailer (from that ubiquitous store that sells cheap tools - you know the one). I wanted a heavier duty axle with hubs that are standard sizes and could be repaired with readily available parts should I experience a breakdown on the road. The spring center to spring center distance of 46-1/2" is perfect for this application. I installed my new axle without a fuss in about 5 minutes. New hubs took another 5 minutes, and the setup was perfect on my first 300-mile trip hauling my enduro bike to the trailhead.

by:

this product fit perfect on a 1973 dilly boat trailer a few things to consider, it has holes to line up with the nubs on your leaf springs these were taken out of mine because my old axle was fitted with bolts. So I ran a 3/8" bolt through the spring the head of that bolt measured 5/8" which is what the holes in the axle measure. my springs ran on top of the axle.

by:

I ordered a number of items to replace my axle on my 4x8 trailer. Since "etrailer" is the experts I wish they would have thought of everything I needed to accomplish that and make recommendations. After placing my first order I realized I had not ordered the U bolt kit for the leaf springs and had to place another order. Once I received my initial order I found no grease was supplied for the hubs so I need to buy a tube of grease now. If the above items would have been mentioned during ordering I would have ordered and my trailer would be up and running for labor day but now it will not be ready in time as I wait for additional items to arrive.

Was a direct drop in replacement for a Harbor Freight trailer that I own. The existing axle was damaged due to a failed wheel hub, and I wanted to change to a standard SAE spindle size. Perfect part for the job. Zero complaints.

by:

The axle installation was a success but I didn't realize I never did get my spindle nuts or cotter pins until I was done. I just used the ones from my old axle and only realized it until I came hear to leave my review.

by:

Ax!e 5 stars. Fast shipping 5 stars. Customer service 5 stars. Quality assurance 2 stars. Axle didn't show with spindle nuts, washers, or cotter pins. Customer service rectified the situation quickly, but it delayed me 3 days because they didn't ensure it was right the first time.

Axle for our boat trailer is holding up to normal wear after a year. Great product.

by:

Axle installed very easily on to my Harbor Freight 1,200 lb trailer and installed without needing any extra brackets or mounting hardware. James and Michelle were very helpful throughout the course of the order.

by:

Great service, your authorized partner Sumter Tire and auto in wildwood Florida did a great job installing everything. Couldn’t be happier

by:

a year later and I say it fits perfectly on my Harbor Freight 62648/62666 trailer and the tires do not stick out of the fenders

by:

The axle bolted in as expected. I've used the trailer quite a bit and am very satisfied.

Another year has gone by. We used the trailer on some 200+ mile trips... works like a champ... no issues! Love it!

by:

Great service. Thanks

by:

my husband was concerned at first because the axle he bought was square. Ours is round. I talked him into trying to make it work and it's great. The axle is for our 1960 pace boat trailer. Thank you so much.

by:

I have not assembled the trailer yet, but the quality of the parts
is good, delivery was quick and the price was great due to the
free shipping. So far my favorite place to buy trailer parts.

by:

Good price and quality. Pulled the trailer cross country with no issues

by:

Awesome service. Second time I have ordered from them and my orders both my orders arrived extremely fast and were exactly as advertised. I will continue to do all my trailer business with them.

by:

I don't even notice that I'm pulling a trailer.

by:

Part was exactly what I needed for the repair.

by:

Expensive, but well made and I am glad to actually find and buy an American made part! Installed great and could not be happier.

For your application we have the CE Smith Galvanized Axle Beam # CE33201GA which is also available with idler hubs that have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern as part # CE33201GA-HUB. The only spec that doesn't quite match up is the weight rating as you said 2K and this is rated for 1.8K. If you absolutely need a 2K rating then I recommend checking out the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Straight Spindle # ASR2KHDS01 which installs directly to your trailer frame. The fact that it is not heavy duty suspension and without 5th wheel hitch doesn't come into play. These air springs will mount to your frame and current suspension system. It will allow you to adjust air as needed between 5 psi and 100 psi. If you want to bypass the manual adding and subtracting of air, you can add the Firestone Air Command...

The Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-440-2-G-2K will work but you would want to use the above E-Z Lube option instead as that is what the axle has.

The measurements that will need to be taken are from the center of each spring seat on the axle you have now as well as the distance between the two hub faces. I have attached a photo of this for you as well. The most important measurement that you need to verify is the hub face as the spring seats can be moved.
